Today
many planes break the sound
barrier with relative ease.
It wasn't too many years
ago when the sound barrier
was just that, a seemingly
impenetrable invisible barrier.
In fact, many aerodynamisists
thought that the sound barrier
may never be broken. That
was until one man named
Richard Whitcomb developed
a theory called Area Rule
that enabled efficient supersonic
flight to become a reality.
Destination tomorrow spoke
with Mr. Whitcomb about
his incredible achievements. |
